Introducing Independence Guide Dog Team Janis Limon and Bozzy
IGD is proud to present our first working Guide Dog Team! Janis and Bozzy have been together just over a month now, and things are going well.
Here is a quote from Janis…
“Bozzy is doing extremely well. I have been working him early morning for it has been really hot here. His pace is settling in and his work is simply awesome. He just really strives to do his work well. I simply love him and I want to thank you so very much for allowing me to share my life with him. He is my pride and joy and works like a champ. I know we will have our bumps along the way, but he is so much more than I ever expected.”
Bozzy was donated by Trisha Wicklund of Iron Mountain, MI. Gail and Scott Babbitt expertly raised Bozzy through our Puppy Raising Program. Bozzy was trained by IGD Lead Trainer Jennifer Caley in our Home-to-Harness Training Program. Bozzy got to stay with the Babbits while Jennifer, and occasionally Tiffany Riggs conducted his formal guide dog training.
Jennifer flew with Bozzy to Mesa, AZ where Janis lives. Ellie Carlson, IGD Placement Instructor took it from there. Ellie spent 10 days with Janis and Bozzy to conduct instruction in our Local Instruction Familiar Environment (LIFE) Training Program.
Janis has been working guide dogs for over 38 years. Janis says that Bozzy is, “without a doubt”, the most hardworking and healthy guide dog she has had.
Thanks to your financial support, IGD is extremely happy to have provided Bozzy free of charge to Janis. The increased independence that Bozzy will bring to Janis is priceless.
Thank you for helping Janis’ dream come true!
